Initial Working Ideas

Rich Nelson….

“I don’t have anything concrete, but the general direction is that we recognize some potential for the following:

1) Something to tie together our Art Institute of Chicago customer events at RSNA with Philips Healthcare. We had a quick brainstorm a few weeks ago along the lines of : “The Art of Medical Images”. We would showcase our latest, greatest images from our prototype systems in one of the front galleries, then the transition artwork from the pure “Images” to the pure “Art” in the Art Institute Galleries could be yours. (like the Impressionists are the transition between the Realists and the Modernists)

Ultrasound and Art

MRI and Art

(This is the one I am most excited about, but it also has huge risk of falling through. I am probably being premature in sharing this, but I wanted to see if you were open to the idea.)

2) All of our RSNA booth areas, meeting rooms, etc. need something on the wall other than brochure text to improve the “stickiness” of our booth. We need something for customers to follow from one modality to another, so they are exposed to other products that may not be on their capital budget for 2009. The gallery concept could improve the traffic between modalities. It could be fun to use the modalitiy images near their booth area. Clinical people would “get it”, but the concept could be lost on a lot of business people.

Trees in the Body

Branching Patterns – Asymmetric Branching

This is a photo taken near Lake Michigan at the end of the Fall in Chicago showing the illuminated base of the naked trees. The dichotomous branching is reminiscent of the tracheal branching into the two mainstem bronchi. Turn them upside down and the similarity is remarkable.
